Improving Manufacturing and Engineering Processes with Statistical Process Control

Whether you are developing and improving products for the general market or fine tuning engineering processes for the latest aero engine, understanding how various parts of the process interact or fail in certain areas is vital. If you want processes to achieve successful results then it is vital that you have a system in place that allows you to understand and manage those processes. The fact is that most products and engineering systems are comprised of a large number of factors or variables that will affect the outcome. Companies need multivariate data analysis software in order to understand the relationships between various aspects of a process and how these things affect each other – vital to identifying any problems in a product or engineering process.

When you have a series of charts or tables of figures it is not always easy to see underlying patterns and relationships between the different variables or parts of a process, multivariate analysis software changes that. The statistical process control (SPC) that is inherent in multivariate software identifies the most important factors in your data and the relationships between them. When you get a clearer picture of what the data is actually doing it is much easier to identify where processes need to be changed or modified to achieve the results that you are looking for. Understanding the relationships between different aspects of process makes it much easier to identify where a process might be going wrong.

Statistical process control means that you can see where various aspects of a process interact and thus where they are having an adverse effect on other aspects of a process. Knowing where the problems are is a vital part of finding an answer to what is wrong with that process and how it might be rectified. When you understand the relationships between various aspects of a process it is easier to see what the effects of any new strategy might be before you actually put it into practice.

Advanced Anti Aging Techniques

People want to look young and at the top of their lives. This is not something that is strange or unnatural but a completely natural wish that is present in everyone. How we express it or deal with it differs from person to person. We know this for a fact that people have been looking for anti aging solutions since long ago. The people in Egypt were the first ones to lead this path of human desire, like in other similar matters as well in which they were the leaders. People in those times used to work with herbal products in order to get anti aging results.

Now let’s fast forward all this a bit and come to the present age where companies are able to make products that can help people reduce the signs of aging or in fact reverse this process. There are jells, creams etc that are recommended and need to be applied according to a set pattern of instructions. There are different opinions about these products. Some say they work, some say they don’t and then again some are of the opinion that the result of these products are only semi effective. You can read all sorts of different opinions on these anti aging products online at sites like the Face Fitness Center and similar anti aging authorities.

If asked from some technical person as to what their opinion about these mixed responses is, their reply is that the results depend on each individual and their condition.

However, the same advancements in technology that we have praised at a number of other places is what needs to be praised here yet again. Now there are more advanced techniques available that can help the individual get rid of the physical aging factors for good. These procedures do not include any sort of creams or jells. These are permanent solutions that one can get through surgical procedures. These procedures are getting quite common these days.

There are a few things that one needs to keep in mind when they plan on getting these procedures done. The main factor that counts is the expertise of the person from which you plan to get your procedure done. The advice is that you need to make sure that the person you are going to has all the technical background and experience to ensure that the results are what you intend them to be without any unwanted side effects. Once this credibility is established, the rest is going to be completely fine. The recovery time is only a couple of days and you’ll be back to your young self.

Free Line Rental!

Have not been around much lately, but I thought I would add an update about my latest bargain, a *free* mobile phone deal!

I always shop around online to find the best price for anything I buy, Im big on Ebay and price comparison sites which are by best source of bargains :)

So, I ended up searching for a new mobile phone on a bunch of different comparison sites and ended up finding one that was listing what are known as free line rental phone deals.

I had not come accross this type of promotion before, but found some useful info on this page where they explain how free line rental deals work in more detail.

They are pretty up front on this site warning about the pitfalls of free line rental deals, as well as the positives.

They way it works goes something like this:

  • Order your phone
  • After 6 months submit request for a partical refund of your costs
  • After 9 months submit another request for more money
  • After 12 months, do the same!

At each stage the company I bought the phone from will send me a cheque refunding the money I spent on line rental, and thus, the deal becomes a “free line rental” deal.

Its a bit of a cheat really, I mean, I still have to pay my line rental up front to my network and the cheques are not 100% guaranteed.

I have to contact the company at specific times, 6, 9 and 12 months. If I miss the deadline I lose the money.

I also have to submit proof of the fact I paid my bills in the form of a hard copy of the phone bill itself, so, if I lose a bill I lose the money.

Its a complicated process really, but one that I feel will be worth it in the end!

I mean, the prospect of running a mobile phone completely free for 12 months, then owning the handset at the end of it is an appealing one, is it not?

Im not sure I’d recommend this kind of deal as such, I would hate for any of my friends or family to sign up and then lose their money, but for me, I think I will pull it off.

I made a note of exactly what I need to do and have it all written down and filed away. As my bills arrive I add them to the same file. Its not rocket science, in fact, I think its pretty easy, you just have to read the small print and understand what is required… like many other things in life!

So, whilst falling short of recommending these deals, I would suggest you check the site out if you are a keen minded bargain hunter:

Finding A Gym

It seems that picking a gym is just as hard as getting motivated to go to one! We recently moved house which means trying to find a new place to exercise, and there are no shortage of options around. The problem is that there seems to be now reliable way of choosing the best gym in the area without visiting them all first.

So how do you choose a gym? The first thing I always look for is the number of cardio machines they have, because these seem to be the first to get filled up during peak times. I tend to go to the gym in the morning anyway so this isn’t a massive problem for me, but it’s always good to know that the gym has lots of options.

I also look for whether the gym has good parking facilities. I hate it when you have to park miles away from a gym, so the larger the car park is the less likely it is that I’ll have to find alternative parking. There are a few gyms within walking distance of my new house so they might be good options.

There are lots of other things that make the difference between a good and bad gym. Helpful staff is essential, especially if you plan on using the classes that sometimes come with the package. If the gym has a swimming pool built into the membership then this is a bonus, although I don’t use pools that often. A cafe is both a good and bad thing – but as long as you can keep away from the unhealthy snacks (such as chips) then it’s nice to be able to get a cup of coffee after a workout.

Learning PHP

Learning a programming language is something I’ve been meaning to do for a while, and I’ve finally got around to picking up some instructional books on PHP. From my uni course I already know programming basics, but I don’t think it’s until you really dive into a language and start doing real projects that you really get a feel for it and start to learn about the principles of good coding.

So why did I choose PHP? Web design has always interested me, so it was an easy choice to pick PHP which is mainly used for web development. It is a scripting language, but it should be easy enough to switch from PHP to a true programming language in the future if I want to. There are lots of things wrong with PHP, but I get the impression that these only really become apparent if you’re doing complex and demanding projects rather than simple scripts.

Hopefully, my first projects will be a few WordPress plugins. That’s another reason why I chose PHP – it will allow me to extend this blog to a greater degree and customize it how I want. There are loads of plugins available for WordPress already, but there are a few that I’d like to have which aren’t available. I’ll definitely be keeping things simple to start with, but in the future I’ve got a few exciting ideas for new plugins that will hopefully make this website a bit different from all the other blogs out there! If you have any ideas for plugins that you think I could code then let me know – I’m looking out for good projects that I can get started on straight away.

My Predictions For The Ashes 2010

The Ashes are almost upon us, and with that comes all the excitement and hype that goes along with any high profile sporting event. The only difference with the Ashes is that (unlike the World Cup) it usually lives up to expectations!  I can’t say that I’ll be up every night watching every ball throughout the series (the days play starts at 11:30pm UK time) but I’ll certainly be watching some of it. Here are my predictions for the coming series.

England Will Win 3-1

Yes I honestly believe that the England team can win this time! They’ve looked strong in the warm ups – which are partly meaningless I know – and have played well enough over the last year or so to prove they are a good team. The strength in depth is something we’ve not seen from an England squad in some time as well.

Not only do England look good, but Australia look poor. The batters are all out of form, and the bowlers are very inconsistent. In fact, you could say that the bowlers play like typical England players! They are certainly good enough to cause the England team some trouble, but I don’t think they can do it on a consistent enough basis.

Swann Will Be The Hero

I’d be very surprised if Swann doesn’t make a big impact on the series. Everyone is talking up his chances of being the most important player for England, and I completely agree. He’s got that little bit extra that can make all the difference in a tight session. If he can keep up his habit of taking wickets in his first over then that would be handy too!

You can never write off the Australians though, and I’m sure that the series will be a lot closer than many people imagine. I still think England will win though, and will do it in style. It might all come down to how they perform in the first test though.
